Not another Depth of Field Calculator! Yes...but there's a difference...read on. 

Ok...so we are not reinventing the wheel or the 'Kelly' for that matter. When using a depth of field calculator, you perhaps find your camera or format isn't listed or...the correct 'Circle of Confusion' isn't available. Especially so when considering the many sensor sizes used by camera manufactures... More often you'll end up using a circle of confusion of a similar camera/sensor resulting in generic values that are not specific to your camera/sensor.

Well, with the TECHOGRAPHY DOF, generic values are the past, in fact with the additional functionality, you'll never need estimate your depth of field again.  This app provides a function that caters for both old and new cameras, even cameras yet to be released...from the consumer to the high end professional camera.

There's a Custom Circle of Confusion Input...providing you can provide a CoC, the calculator can do the rest. It can even generate a CoC for you. All you need to do is find your camera's sensor dimension horizontal (width) and vertical (height). This information is normally found in the camera user manual or available online from the camera manufactures website.

To use the Circle of Confusion Generator, simply:

Input your sensor dimensions and press calculate. To import your newly generated CoC into the DOF Calculator, press the CoC display value window, the window border changes to white to indicate import is complete. Scroll to the top of the app and you'll see the imported CoC value displayed in the 'Custom CoC Input' window. Select Custom CoC from the Camera picker (found at the top of the camera listing). Press Calculate and the 'Custom CoC Input' window border will change white to indicate use within the calculations.

There are a few alternative functions available within the app other than the standard depth of field functions.This app may help...if you are filming under water, if you're using additional lens attachments/diopters, or working with crop factors ...or perhaps you're just tired of things looking the same. 

We have included a varied list of cameras in use today, however...we haven't listed every single camera (see list below)

App info:

FOV (Field of View) represents the frame width (Horizontal) at a specified distance from camera. 

AOV (Angle of View) represents the lens angle of view displayed in degrees for both H & V (horizontal and vertical) planes.

Within the app, the AOV graphic represents the horizontal plane (AOVH).

Within the app, the FOV distance from camera is determined by the focus input setting.

* Please note...if Focus input is set to 'FEET', FOV/Focus Distance will display in feet!

AOV H 39.59 degrees

FOV 1.316 meters or 4.32ft
